🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A 1959 report describes a round, silver object seen by students in Colorado Springs. The object, the size of a pinhead, initially appeared as one, but split into four smaller objects. Two flew side by side and two in a trailing formation, before aligning in a single file. Observers used binoculars and watched the event for five minutes. Although balloon or astronomical explanations were considered, investigators concluded it was likely a distant aircraft.
The report lacked photographs and radar data. Visibility was good, with partly cloudy skies and a slight temperature inversion at 20,000 feet. No balloon launches were reported in the area that day, ruling out a common explanation. Despite the detailed observation, the object could not be definitively identified, leaving open the possibility of an unusual phenomenon.
