🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1959, an American Airlines pilot and two United Airlines pilots reported seeing three lights in an almost straight line formation. Observers noted that the lights varied in distance and intensity. The pilot described the objects as not resembling stars or conventional aircraft. However, investigations confirmed that they were three B-47 bombers conducting a night refueling operation with a KC-97. The data matched the characteristics of an aerial refueling maneuver, including altitude and event duration. Although initially considered as meteors or astronomical phenomena, the official conclusion pointed to a routine military operation.
