🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1959, a witness in San Antonio, Texas, observed a blue-white object shaped like a grapefruit with a tail. The object was moving rapidly southeast, stopping and resuming, giving it a rocking effect. The observation lasted 4½ hours, which created confusion since the witness claimed the object traversed a 100-degree arc in that time. Despite the long duration, no photos were taken and the source of the associated sound was uncertain.
The official investigation concluded the data was inconsistent. An officer, Lieutenant Gordon R. Wood, thought the witness might have been observing a star, but did not confirm its presence. Astronomer Dr. Paul L. Seabase was consulted and suggested the object could be an unusual type of meteor. No balloons or aircraft were found to explain the sighting, and the final report classified it as "inconsistent data."
