🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1959, an aerial phenomenon was observed for over an hour in New York. Three witnesses reported different details: a shiny teardrop-shaped object, a square object that rounded off and glowed with a bluish hue, and a third radar sighting with no clear pattern. Despite the differences, all agreed the object moved in an unexpected way. A Trans-Canada pilot even turned his aircraft to chase it. Authorities concluded it was likely a balloon, though other possibilities weren't ruled out.
The investigation included testimonies from an air traffic controller, a pilot, and radar data. Weather reports indicated favorable conditions and winds that could have moved a balloon in the observed direction. Although no photos were taken and the object wasn't identified with certainty, available data supported the balloon theory. The final analysis, conducted by ATIC, considered the balloon explanation the most plausible, though it was acknowledged that conclusive evidence was lacking.
