Summary

In May 1959, a U.S. Air Force officer reported a bright object over Dayton, Ohio. The object, described as brighter than a star, was observed for 10 to 15 minutes. Although it remained stationary, it was noted to have a smaller object orbiting it. Later, it broke into three parts that formed a triangular pattern. A later report suggested the object could have been a weather balloon with a red parachute hanging from it, which would explain the appearance and behavior of the phenomenon.

The official investigation concluded there was no reason to believe the witness saw anything other than the balloon. However, the testimony of the sole observer and the detailed description of the event add a touch of mystery to the case. Despite ruling out a supernatural explanation, the lack of images or additional data left some questions unanswered.
