In February 1967, the CIA conducted a photo analysis of images of an alleged UFO. The report, requested by the National Photographic Interpretation Center, evaluated photographs provided by the Air Force's Aerial Phenomena Office. The images included three enlargements of the UFO and one of a helicopter, but the quality of the copies was poor, as they were reproduced from second-generation negatives. This severely limited the analysts' ability to obtain precise conclusions.
The analysis required key assumptions, such as the distance of the UFO from the camera (0.25 miles) and its circular shape. Despite efforts, the results were only approximate and depended on assumptions that could be incorrect. Ultimately, the report concluded there was no conclusive evidence that the images were authentic or that the object was a UFO. The image quality and lack of precise data made the analysis inconclusive.
