🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1959, a civilian in Montana discovered strips of aluminum in a field and sent them to the military for analysis. The original report mentioned that many strips had been found across a large area. After review, military analysts concluded the material was chaff, a substance used to interfere with radar. Chaff was commonly dropped during training missions to confuse detection systems. Although the initial discovery raised some curiosity, the technical explanation turned out to be quite common in areas with heavy air activity.
