🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1959, an Italian officer in Genoa observed a luminous object moving southward. The witness, an astronomy enthusiast using a telescope, noticed a steady pale white light with constant intensity. The object had no tail and disappeared among the stars. The observation lasted between 13 and 14 seconds. The witness contacted local institutions after reading about the launch of Explorer III.
The U.S. Air Force responded that the object could not be the satellite, as its trajectory and duration did not match. Nonetheless, the testimony was appreciated for its accuracy. The letter includes a chart showing the observed path and the astronomical context of the event.
