Summary

In June 1959, a woman from Lyons, Colorado, reported an unidentified flying object she observed during the morning. The incident occurred after she heard a loud roar that did not seem to come from the object itself. Rushing outside to investigate, she saw a dull gray object with three points, moving at a speed faster than any jet and tumbling end over end. The sound, however, did not follow the object but drifted off toward the mountains. The sighting lasted about 27 seconds, and the object disappeared as it tumbled northward. Although initially thought to be a meteor, witnesses considered the possibility of a re-entry nose cone from a rocket.

The description of the object and its behavior generated interest among air force authorities, who requested more information to evaluate the case. The witness, a 49-year-old homemaker, provided detailed information about the object's estimated size, trajectory, and appearance. Despite no other witnesses being present, the testimony was considered detailed enough to be included in Air Force records. The case was classified as insufficient for a definitive evaluation, but it remains an interesting example of how observers describe unexplained aerial phenomena.
