🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1959, a pilot from Trans Canada Airlines and other witnesses reported an unidentified flying object (UFO) over the Bahamas, southeast of Florida. The object was described as a rocket-like body with three lights, moving eastward and remaining visible for several minutes. The main witness, an airline captain, noted that the object followed a trajectory similar to a missile and its brightness was comparable to a planet. Initially, he thought it might be an aircraft, but quickly dismissed that idea when no sound was heard. Other witnesses, including a resident of Jamaica and a ship's crew, also observed the phenomenon, adding credibility to the account.
The U.S. Air Force classified the report under Project 10073, and although missile data for that year was unavailable, investigators concluded the phenomenon shared characteristics with later launches. The object was observed in a clear sky with visible stars, and its movement was described as fast and consistent. Despite the detailed report, officials could not determine the object's nature with certainty, leaving the witness intrigued and without a clear explanation.
