🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Salt Lake City, Utah, reported a half-moon-shaped object with flickering lights resembling an airliner’s windows. The object was seen for 30 seconds to a minute and appeared to move four times faster than jets in the area. Although a possible aircraft was considered, the data was insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. The report noted that the object made two controlled turns, suggesting maneuvers not typical of natural phenomena.
Dated July 1959, the report included testimony from an intelligence officer who confirmed the object did not resemble any known aircraft or natural phenomena. There were no records of balloons or birds in the area, and neither the FAA nor the control tower had information about the sighting. Despite the clear description from the witness, authorities concluded there was not enough data to identify the object definitively.
