🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1959, a witness in Mooseheart, Illinois, reported seeing a silver disc-shaped object to the south, in the direction of Aurora. The sighting occurred near sunset, with scattered clouds in the sky. The report, though brief, describes a ground visual observation and includes no additional data such as photographs or radar. Al Whiting, secretary of the MOOUFOS group, documented the sighting, though the report concludes that the data is insufficient for a precise evaluation. Despite the lack of details, this case represents one of the many unresolved sightings of the time.
The document, part of Project 10073, offers no clear explanation of the phenomenon. Balloons, aircraft, and astronomical events are all dismissed, but the exact nature of the object remains unknown. This type of report reflects the confusion and mystery surrounding UFO sightings in the 1950s, a period of great public interest and government activity regarding unidentified aerial phenomena.
