🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Ocean Beach, New Jersey, reported an object resembling a saucer viewed from the side, about the size of a nickel and red in color that occasionally turned golden. The object moved erratically, orbiting and returning to the same area before fading out toward the northeast. The sighting lasted one hour and forty-five minutes.
Weather conditions included a high layer of cirrus clouds and haze, which may have reflected light from a city to the north. A weather balloon was launched near Lakehurst, but it was not confirmed to be the object. The report suggests the phenomenon could be an optical reflection, though other explanations remain open.
