🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1959, a witness in New York described a bright white object resembling a sparkling star. The object, the size of a half-dollar coin, was observed for about 10 minutes and rapidly ascended into the sky. The report notes that the object had a double exhaust and disappeared suddenly. The Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) considered it likely a weather balloon, as one had been launched in the area a few hours earlier.
The case was investigated by several military departments and consultations were made with the U.S. Weather Bureau to confirm if the balloon could explain the sighting. However, details such as elevation, direction, and the exact time of the sighting could not be confirmed due to lack of information from the witness. Despite the uncertainties, the most plausible explanation pointed to a weather balloon.
