🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1959, two U.S. pilots in a T-33 reported a bright white object moving at high speed over the Monterey Peninsula, California. The object, which appeared to have a brightness similar to a landing light, was traveling east to west at an estimated altitude of 40,000 to 50,000 feet. As they followed it, they observed faint greenish-blue flashes forming square shapes behind the object. The phenomenon lasted between 3 and 5 minutes, and at one point the object disappeared for several seconds before reappearing briefly and then vanishing over the Pacific Ocean. The pilots, flying at 30,000 feet, could not identify the object's shape and detected no interference with their equipment.
The official investigation concluded that the object was likely a high-performance aircraft, with the green flashes attributed to the afterburner's operation. However, the pilots agreed they had never seen anything like it before, prompting the official report. Despite multiple reviews and included photographs, the case remained unresolved. The object's description and behavior continue to intrigue researchers of unexplained aerial phenomena.
