🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1959, a witness in Wallingford, Kentucky, observed a glowing object that suddenly lifted off from the ground. The object, about 30 to 40 feet in diameter, emitted a phosphorescent light similar to that of a radium watch. While hovering in the air, it illuminated tree tops 150 feet away. Suddenly, it expelled a deep blue flame and rapidly ascended to 400–500 feet before disappearing eastward. Authorities found a burned circle on the ground with an intact grass ring around it, suggesting the presence of kerosene-like fuel.
The investigation concluded that the incident was likely a hoax, given the presence of fuel residue and the perfectly circular burn pattern. Although no strange objects were found at the site, the witness's account and physical evidence generated some controversy. Recent rain and the number of people visiting the site complicated the evaluation. The case was closed without a definitive explanation, but the photos and technical report remain a point of interest for UFO researchers.
