🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1950, a witness in Philadelphia described a glowing object near the Moon. It appeared as a circular point of light, observed at about 45 degrees above the horizon and 5 degrees from the satellite. The observer watched it for over an hour, noting changes in color and movement. Initially thought to be a star, the object was later linked to atmospheric conditions or a balloon. The report includes precise positional data and the difficulty in identifying it accurately.
The Air Force investigated the case, requesting more information from witnesses and analyzing weather conditions. Despite efforts, no clear identification was made. The object moved in an unusual elliptical pattern, drifting away from the Moon over time. Wind and altitude data suggested it might have been at high altitude, but an astronomical explanation was not ruled out. Ultimately, no correlation with known events was found, and the case remained unresolved.
