🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1959, a Colombian Navy vessel reported the sighting of a luminous object near Cartagena. The report described the object as circular, with a bright center and slightly darker spots. It appeared slightly larger than Venus and was considered possibly an artificial satellite. Although two sightings were mentioned, only one was included in the official message. Due to the lack of concrete data, investigators concluded that it was not possible to determine the object's nature with certainty.
The observation was recorded in a declassified message from the U.S. Air Force Department, sent from the U.S. embassy in Bogotá. The report did not include photographs or additional data, limiting the possibility of a more precise evaluation. Despite perfect visibility during the sighting, the object could not be identified with certainty. The case was filed as insufficient for a conclusive evaluation, leaving open the possibility that it was a satellite or an astronomical phenomenon.
