🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1959, an officer aboard the ship *Río de La Plata* observed a bright object in the sky over the Atlantic Ocean. It appeared as a white-blue meteor of great intensity, leaving a red gas trail visible for about 20 minutes. The vessel recorded the event with precise geographic and meteorological data, including a light wind from the southeast and clear skies. Although the observer identified it as a meteor, researchers under Project 10073 considered it worth documenting due to the unusual persistence of the trail.
The official report, part of the air surveillance system of the time, did not include photos or radar data, but did include the exact time (23:20 GMT), location (31.14N, 61.57W), and environmental conditions. Although not considered a UFO, the case was filed due to its rarity and the clarity of the observation. This type of record helps understand how aerial phenomena were handled in the 1950s.
