🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1959, a witness in Portland, Maine, reported seeing a white, spherical object moving at high speed across the sky. The object was observed during daylight at a considerable altitude, traveling in a north-south direction. Initially thought to be a weather balloon, its excessive speed ruled out that possibility. The official report concluded that the data was insufficient for a precise evaluation, but the witness insisted it was not an optical phenomenon or a known object.
The case was reviewed by the U.S. Air Force, which requested the witness to complete a detailed questionnaire. Despite the clear description provided, military reports did not reach a definitive conclusion. The object showed no lights, no changes in shape or brightness, and its constant, rapid movement raised questions about its nature. This document reflects the ambiguity with which many UFO sightings were treated during the Cold War era.
