🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A U.S. Air Force pilot reported a bright blue-green circular object resembling a fireball. The sighting occurred 100 nautical miles north of Andersen Air Base in Guam, on the night of November 18, 1959. The object suddenly appeared from the northwest and moved in a straight line toward the southeast, at an estimated altitude of 35,000 feet, much higher than the pilot’s aircraft. The pilot described the object as the size of a half-dollar coin, with a tail that changed to orange-yellow and remained visible in the air for 10 to 15 minutes after it passed. No sound was heard and no radio activity was recorded.
The report classifies the object as an astronomical meteor, specifically a "fireball," due to its appearance, trajectory, and duration. Although no photos were taken and there was no evidence of supernatural activity, the report concludes the sighting fits within a natural phenomenon. The pilot, known for excellent reliability, provided a detailed description of the event, adding credibility to the report. However, the object’s brief and intense nature makes it an intriguing case within the UFO records of that era.
