🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A 1960 Coast Guard report describes a bright light with a north-south trajectory over the Gulf of Mexico. The object was seen by three people at 02:34 AM, moving at 10 degrees azimuth and 40 degrees altitude. No rocket or human activity was recorded in the area, ruling out launches or tests. Although a meteor was considered, it didn't match any known satellite or reentry. Visibility was clear, with calm seas and a bright moon, ideal for accurate observation. The report concluded it might be a meteor, but left open the possibility of an unknown phenomenon.
