In March 1960, a witness in Codroy, Newfoundland, observed a dark, barrel-shaped object about six to eight feet long, with one end black and a six-foot flame trail. The object was descending silently and disappeared to the east. The sighting lasted only one minute. Although the witness ruled out an aircraft, no photos were taken and there were no other observers, leading to the classification of "insufficient data." Investigators suggested it could have been a weather balloon or an atmospheric research device falling.
The description and duration of the fall matched a collapsed balloon, but no other details were recorded. The location and lack of sound supported the idea of a non-conventional object, though no physical evidence was found. The clear and sunny weather aided the visual observation, but it was not enough to confirm the object's nature.
