🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1960, a witness in Oregon observed a round, silver object descending in a straight path before turning red and exploding with a puff of white smoke. The object was about five inches in diameter and was seen for half a minute. Although no photos were taken, a helicopter search was conducted. The only thing found was a recently killed white goose, leading investigators to consider that the object might have been an animal that had been shot. The most plausible explanation is that the goose was killed by a poacher, and the color change and puff of smoke were due to blood and feathers around the body.
The observation was recorded as part of an official report from the time, in which multiple possibilities were evaluated, from balloons to aircraft. However, the lack of physical evidence and the coincidence with the dead goose finding led investigators to conclude that there was insufficient data to consider the case as an unexplained phenomenon. Despite this, the description of the event remains intriguing and shows how aerial phenomena can be confused with everyday situations.
