🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1960, a 46-year-old engineering technician reported an unidentified object near Loogootee, Indiana. While driving on Highway 50, he saw a yellow-red elongated light at about 300 feet altitude, moving slowly. The object appeared from behind a group of trees, crossed the road, and disappeared behind a hill. The witness heard no sound and saw no exhaust trail, raising questions about its nature.
The official report classified it as "insufficient data" due to the lack of additional witnesses and tangible evidence. Although explanations like balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were ruled out, the object's identity could not be confirmed. The case was forwarded to several air bases for investigation, but no further information was obtained. This event remains an unresolved mystery.
