Summary

In April 1960, an observer in the waters west of the Hawaiian Islands reported a bright blue and red object with a blue tail. The object was approximately 10 degrees long and appeared the size of a dime. It moved in a southeast to northeast direction before disappearing behind clouds. Although other possibilities such as balloons or aircraft were considered, analysts concluded it was likely a meteor. This area of the Pacific was known for frequent meteor sightings during that period, supporting this explanation.

The report, initially classified as confidential, was reviewed by multiple military and scientific offices. Natural phenomena such as ball lightning or unusual astronomical events were ruled out. The final assessment concluded the object was consistent with a common meteor, with no evidence of non-terrestrial activity. Despite the detailed description, no photos or additional data were recorded that could provide a more precise identification.
