🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1960, an observer near Bitburg Air Base in Germany spotted a luminous object resembling a falling star with pieces breaking off. The object, described as white and round, descended curving toward the earth before disappearing behind a building. The observation lasted about three seconds and no photos were taken. Although it might initially seem like an otherworldly or supernatural event, investigators concluded it was likely a meteor disintegrating in the Earth's atmosphere. This type of event, while striking, is common and explainable with current science.
The observer's description perfectly matched the typical appearance of a meteor breaking apart as it enters the Earth's atmosphere. The way the object curved toward the ground and shed fragments is characteristic of this natural phenomenon. Despite the brief observation, the data collected allowed intelligence officers to reach a clear conclusion, ruling out the need to consider more exotic explanations.
