🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1960, a U.S. Air Force pilot and a civilian in New Mexico reported the observation of an unidentified object resembling a fireball. The pilot, while in flight, described a blue-white object with a red tail, similar to a flare, moving rapidly in a northeast to southwest direction. From the ground, a captain in Clovis observed the same phenomenon and noted the object breaking into pieces and emitting sparks. Despite multiple sightings, no evidence of known human activity or aircraft was found. The reports were consistent in describing an unusual object, prompting interest from air force authorities.
The Air Force reviewed the data and concluded there were no aircraft in the area that could explain the sighting. However, some experts considered the possibility of a meteor or astronomical phenomenon. Despite detailed descriptions, the object could not be definitively identified. The case was filed as insufficient for evaluation, but it left open questions about the nature of what was observed.
