🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A large teardrop-shaped object was sighted on April 25, 1960, north of Mandinga, Panama. A civilian reported the object had a blue nose, a yellow midsection, and a red tail with yellow sparks trailing. Although it was only visible for two seconds, its fiery appearance was unmistakable. Despite the brief observation, the weather data collected in the area suggests it could have been a meteor. The report concludes it was likely an astronomical phenomenon, not an unidentified object.
The Greek vessel M/S Themistocles recorded the incident, and although there were no photographs or radar data involved, detailed weather conditions were noted. A seaplane was spotted 15 minutes prior, but it was not linked to the object. The official report classifies it as likely a meteor, with no further investigation needed.
