Summary

In April 1960, an observer in Duluth, Minnesota, spotted a round yellow light ascending rapidly. The object, described as the size of a pea, zigzagged and moved northeast. The witness observed it for about 3½ to 4 minutes, with no known air traffic in the area. Although a balloon was considered, it was not confirmed. The report suggests it could have been a weather or surveillance balloon released from a nearby air station.

The officer who recorded the sighting, Captain McKinney, could not identify the object with certainty. The description of its upward movement and lack of physical evidence led to the conclusion that it might have been a balloon released by a local air station. Despite the object's unusual speed and behavior, no interception was made and no other simultaneous sightings were recorded.
