🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1960, a witness in Mangham, Louisiana, observed an object that changed shape—from round to tubular and back to round. He described it as the size of a basketball, shiny, and glittering, sometimes resembling fire or silver. At times, the object appeared to have a tail as long as itself. The observer watched it for two hours, and while initially unsure of its identity, other testimonies and weather data helped clarify the mystery.
The investigation conducted by the Air Force concluded that the object was likely a weather balloon. The report notes that multiple witnesses saw it and even interceptor aircraft were deployed without success. Ultimately, the England AFB weather office confirmed the object was a balloon launched in Mississippi. Although the case was initially classified as a UFO, the conventional explanation resolved the incident.
