🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1960, an observer in southwestern Canada spotted a round, green object the size of an orange with an orange tail emitting sparks. The object was moving east to west and appeared to be losing altitude before disappearing below the horizon. The report includes testimonies from ground and airborne witnesses, with consistent descriptions of the phenomenon. Although initially considered a UFO, investigators concluded it was a meteorite. The object's description and the astronomical context of the time supported this explanation.
The report was classified as an astronomical phenomenon and no evidence suggested the object was of non-natural origin. Meteorological data and multiple witness accounts, including military personnel, reinforced the conclusion that it was a meteorite. Despite the clear explanation, the case was carefully documented and further inquiries were made to confirm the object's direction and vector, showing the thoroughness with which such cases were handled at the time.
