A 1960 report describes a bright object seen over North Miami, Florida, that shone brighter than the surrounding stars. Witnesses observed it for over an hour, noting it changed colors between silvery, green, orange, and yellow. The object moved in small jumps toward the south and then returned, as if trying to ascend. Initially thought to be a rocket or balloon, investigators concluded it was likely the planet Jupiter, which was close to Earth at the time. However, witnesses insisted it didn’t behave like a typical star, as it didn’t twinkle and its light was intensely steady. The official report classified it as an astronomical phenomenon, but the movement and color changes suggest the observers were unsure of its origin.
The testimony includes accounts from several residents, including a woman who called the Air Force to report the phenomenon. Despite investigations, no clear explanation was found, and the movement was attributed to atmospheric conditions. Witnesses heard no sound and the object was at an intermediate altitude—not like an airplane or a star. The official report, though conclusive, leaves many questions open, especially about the object's color changes and movement pattern.
