In June 1960, a Canadian tourist in Leadville, Colorado, reported a high-speed object resembling two rapidly oscillating saucers. The witness described it as extremely bright and luminous, performing a dive before ascending and disappearing from view. He took a photo of a second similar object after rushing to get his camera. The resulting image showed an object in the center of the frame with streaks that sparked debate.
Technical analysis of the photograph suggested the object could be a lenticular cloud or a reflection on glass. Calculations indicated that if the object were 10 miles away, its speed would be 2000 nautical miles per second, which is impossible for a visible object. Additionally, no sound was reported, contradicting the estimated high speed. Ultimately, the phenomenon was likely explained by optical aberrations or photographic errors.
