UFO sighted near Azores in 1960

Summary

In June 1960, a pilot and co-pilot reported a projectile-shaped object moving at high speed northwest of the Azores Islands. The object, traveling faster than Mach 1, was visible for 4 to 5 seconds and left a green-gold white flame trail larger than the object itself. There was no radar contact, and the sighting occurred during evening twilight. Observers concluded it was likely a meteor, given the description resembled one. The object appeared to be in level flight and showed no signs of being an aircraft or balloon.
