Bright UFO over Beckley 1960

A brilliant greenish-blue object, the size of a basketball, appeared in the sky over Beckley, West Virginia, at 1:30 AM on June 6, 1960. Witnesses saw it emit two grapefruit-sized fireballs before vanishing suddenly. The event lasted 3-5 seconds and was accompanied by a rumbling sound. Multiple witnesses, including a miner and a railroad worker, confirmed the sighting. Although initially considered a UFO, investigators concluded it was likely a bolide, a particularly bright type of meteor.
