🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1960, a witness in Oregon described a white object resembling a disintegrating meteor. The sighting lasted between 10 and 15 seconds, and the observer noted that the object left a faint tail and that a piece seemed to detach before disappearing. Although initially considered a possible UFO, analysts concluded it was likely a meteor. The detailed description and precise location helped investigators rule out other explanations such as balloons or aircraft.
The report was classified by the Air Force and sent to several units for analysis. Despite the lack of photographs or radar data, the witness's account was sufficient for officials to consider the case worthy of study. Eventually, the document was declassified in 1969 and is now part of the historical records on unidentified aerial phenomena.
