🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1960, a witness in Palm Springs, California, reported a bright, silvery object that appeared in the sky and quickly disappeared to the west. The object, described as circular and shimmering, was observed for 3 to 5 minutes. The observer used binoculars and estimated the object to be the size of a quarter at arm's length. Attempts to contact the witness for further details were unsuccessful. Investigators concluded it could have been a balloon, though other possibilities were not ruled out.
March AFB and the ATIC (Aerospace Technical Intelligence Center) reviewed the case, noting that the lack of additional information made a definitive evaluation difficult. The report mentions that no conclusive evidence was found to confirm the object as a UFO, though the witness's detailed description was recorded. This case reflects the complexity of UFO reports from that era, where data limitations and the inability to contact witnesses were common.
