🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Kodiak, Alaska, reported an aerial phenomenon on July 25, 1960. They saw a red flame about 200 yards long moving rapidly toward the southeast. The object was visible for only one second before disappearing abruptly without any burning effect or sound. The weather conditions were clear with few clouds, aiding the observation.
The description points to a meteor, as it was not identified as a balloon, aircraft, or other object. Despite its extreme speed, the witness did not hear any noise. While brief sightings like this are common in UFO records, this case was clearly classified as a meteor.
