🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1960, a 25-year-old woman driving in Illinois noticed a bright object in the sky. According to her account, the object had a reddish-orange color and remained nearly stationary. Her seven-year-old daughter was the first to draw her attention to the phenomenon. The observation lasted about 15 minutes, and although they tried to follow the object in their car, it disappeared as they approached Galesburg. Investigators considered several explanations, such as a balloon, an aircraft, or even the moon through a haze layer, but no definitive conclusion was reached.
The description of the object was clear, but meteorological and visual data did not allow for a certain identification. Atmospheric conditions and observation routes were analyzed, including wind maps and charts, but no conclusive explanation was found. The case was filed as insufficient for a definitive evaluation, leaving open the possibility that it was an unusual astronomical or atmospheric phenomenon.
