🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Boyce, Louisiana, observed a round object that changed size and color over three hours. The object, resembling a dime growing to a softball, displayed red, white, and light green hues. It sometimes had a red circle around it and moved up, down, left, and right. Despite the duration and movement, investigators concluded it was likely the planet Mars or the star Aldebaran, refracted by the atmosphere. The observation was made from a low window, suggesting the actual elevation angle might have been lower than reported.
The investigation found no evidence of balloons, aircraft, or other natural phenomena. The witness, a visiting woman, appeared sincere, and there were no other observers. Although the cause could not be determined with certainty, atmospheric conditions and the observer's location were considered the best explanation. The official conclusion was that it was an astronomical phenomenon seen under unusual conditions.
