In July 1960, a civilian in Cincinnati reported a shiny object in the sky that behaved unusually. The witness described an object that appeared like a star, but with beamed light flashes and smoke, moving away slowly. The observation lasted 20 minutes, suggesting a prolonged presence. Although initially considered a balloon, no balloon launches in the area were verified, leaving other explanations open.
The report classifies the case as likely a balloon due to the duration and upward movement observed. However, the lack of meteorological data and balloon launch records in the region limits the certainty of this conclusion. The object also showed single-color flashes and emitted smoke, characteristics that could fit a balloon, but also other phenomena. The vague description and absence of additional witnesses keep some mystery around this case.
