Summary

A round object with a small tail was observed in Lewisburg, West Virginia, on the early morning of August 5, 1960. Civilian witnesses reported that the object was bright, glowing like white heat, and disappeared after 10 to 15 seconds, descending among trees. The initial description suggested a meteor, but the Air Force requested further information to rule out other possibilities. Although no photos were taken and no optical aids were used, the report was deemed insufficient for a definitive evaluation.

The case was reviewed by the ATIC, which requested a more detailed investigation. However, no conclusive new data was found. The precise location of the sighting was one mile west and a quarter mile south of Lewisburg. Despite multiple inquiries, the nature of the object remained unclear, and the final report classified it as "insufficient for evaluation."
