🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1960, a witness in Melbourne, Florida, reported an unidentified object moving in the opposite direction of the Echo satellite's orbit. The object was blocking parts of the Milky Way, initially suggesting it might be a shadow cast by the satellite. However, the Sun was not in a position to create such a shadow. The report concluded that there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation, ruling out balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena.
A naval investigation team was sent to Elberon, Virginia, where an object with a parachute and detonators was found. Although photos were taken and the object was analyzed, its origin remained unknown. NASA and the Air Force collaborated on the investigation, but no conclusive answer was reached. Ultimately, the object was considered to possibly be a non-conventional experiment or an optical phenomenon, though it was not ruled out as an experimental device.
