🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1960, a civilian observer near Concord, California, spotted a white object with red and white lights that moved in an unusual manner. The object, which made no sound and had no visible exhaust, suddenly stopped, hovered, and then rose straight up before vanishing. The sighting lasted three minutes and was recorded under Project 10073. Investigators concluded it was a refracted astronomical object, specifically the star Vega, whose position matched the observer's description. While it might initially seem like a classic UFO case, the astronomical explanation proved convincing.
