In August 1960, a witness in Centerville, Ohio, reported seeing a luminous object in the sky that appeared to be a star. The object was observed for five minutes and seemed to move side to side, causing confusion. The official report concluded that the object was likely the star Altair, located in the position described by the witness. The observation took place under hazy conditions, which might have affected the perception of the object's movement. The witness, who did not want to give their name, was lying in a hammock when the sighting occurred. Although other explanations such as weather balloons or aircraft were ruled out, astronomical analysis pointed to a natural explanation.
