🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An irregular object three feet wide, with an aluminum top and black bottom, was observed falling near Wilmington, North Carolina, in August 1960. Two civilians noticed the object without trail, sound, or emission, and watched it from under cloud cover until it hit a swamp. Attempts to recover it were hindered by thick vegetation. The Air Force concluded there was insufficient data to evaluate the case.
The report notes the object had small fins on both sides and was visible for about 10 minutes. Despite alerts and coordination with local authorities, no physical evidence was found. The area was hard to access, and proximity to a high-voltage power line was highlighted as a caution. The case remains unresolved and without a clear explanation.
