🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1960, a woman in St. Louis, Missouri, observed a colorful object in the sky on multiple occasions. She contacted the airport and weather bureau without success, and eventually reached out to air defense authorities. The official conclusion was that the object was likely Venus. Although the witness insisted on multiple colors, investigators explained that atmospheric conditions could account for this. Venus had a magnitude of -3.3 throughout the month, making it clearly visible at night.
The official response stated there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation, but recommended the witness and her children complete detailed questionnaires for further analysis. Despite initial family doubts, the astronomical explanation seemed most plausible. The case highlights how many UFO sightings are resolved with natural explanations, even when they spark curiosity and debate.
