🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
This declassified document compiles several sightings of unidentified flying objects that occurred in Dayton, Ohio, during September 1960. The testimonies describe a variety of aerial phenomena, from luminous objects with striking colors to dark, smoke-like shapes. Although observers used tools such as binoculars and telescopes, no photographs were taken, and no definitive conclusions were reached. In each case, investigators attempted to find conventional explanations, such as stars, airplanes, or even medical conditions of the witness, but these remained speculative.
One particularly striking sighting involved a transparent sphere with internal green and red lights, observed by a person walking alone. The object made no noise and could not be clearly identified. Although possibilities like a helicopter or balloon were considered, no details such as weather conditions, directions, or angular measurements were recorded. In another case, a bright aluminum-colored object resembling a bomber disappeared after emitting a flash, leading to the hypothesis that it might have been an airplane. However, this was never confirmed.
Overall, the document reflects the uncertainty surrounding these sightings, with tentative explanations and no conclusive evidence. Despite the lack of technical or visual data, the testimonies consistently describe objects that did not easily fit into known categories. These records, while not solving the mystery, are valuable for their historical insight and for illustrating how UFO sightings were addressed at that time.
