🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1960, multiple observers in Puerto Rico reported a fast-moving unidentified flying object traveling from south to north. The object was described as round with a tail, varying in size from that of a pea to a half-dollar, and its color ranged from bluish-white to dusky red. The tail was three to five times the length of the object itself. According to witnesses, the UFO broke up into several fireballs, one of which reportedly fell into the ocean. Observers included both civilians and military personnel, and while it was initially considered a slow meteor, it was more likely a reentry of a space vehicle. The weather was clear, and no sound was reported, adding to the mystery of the event.
Military and civilian authorities collaborated in gathering information, and several military jets also observed the phenomenon. Despite numerous testimonies, no conclusive physical evidence was found. Later analyses suggested it could have been an Earth satellite or a reentry of a spacecraft, given the estimated altitude and trajectory. However, the exact nature of the event remains unexplained, making it one of the most intriguing UFO sightings of the 1960s.
